The Cove

I don't feel that the film takes sides but that it merely just shows everything that is happening, without bias, not hiding anything in order for the audience to see everything that is happening and from that allows them to think for themselves on how they felt.

I think the movie does allow the audience to draw their own conclusion however i feel that they focus heavily on the dramatic scenes in order to move people to a more emotional state that would then help to persuade the audience more to the cause. For example during the scene when the dolphins were getting killed in the cove by the Japanese whalers they emphasized heavily on this part. The music also was made so that it was more moving to help people feel more emotional about the problem.

I feel that documentaries try to be as unbiased as possible, making sure that they just tell the news on an issue and what is being done about that issue. However this can be hard to do because it is often easy to pin the blame and show someone as the villain. For example when OPS had brought forward that Japan had been killing dolphins, they had made the video more about how the whalers are only interested in the money they profited.

I think the film helps to enlighten us on how parts of the world behave. It shows us many things that we may think to be insane to even do but to them it's considered an everyday thing. I think that the more we are enlightened, the more public awareness an issue may receive which in turn can start a global change for the better.
