Blue Gold: World Water Wars

In the documentary “Blue Gold” by Sam Bozzo, explains that in the future we no longer will be fighting for oil, or striving towards world peace, but instead fight for water. many people think that because we live on a planet that is 70% water that we wouldn't have to worry about something like this. However sadly only 30% is actually drinkable but this is shrinking every second. In all parts of the world humans are destroying the only source of life, by polluting it, halting the flow of rivers by making dams, pumping and wasting our limited supply of water. In the end will result into the desertification of the earth.

Corporations have found a new way of gaining money and power by forcing countries to limit and charge the water. The Government has even turned water into a product. They use water for both economic and political gain, sometimes the military is involved for the protection of this “product” which we use for everyday survival.

With over one billion people in the world and with most who have little to no access to clean and safe water, this cause the death of over two million children each year because of the limited amount of water. Many believe that in about 25-30 years, at least two-thirds of the world will be living in scarce water conditions.

The earth has a limited amount of water. However the water comes around in a cycle that if left alone it will never run out. This process though is called the water cycle, It starts off with Evaporation, when the heat of the sun turns the water from rivers, lakes, or oceans and turns it into vapor and goes into the air. Condensation then starts, when water vapors becomes very cold and changes back into liquid forming clouds. Precipitation occurs when enough liquid has been collected in the clouds and the air cannot hold it anymore, then it starts to rain. When it rains it falls everywhere, but when it hits concrete the water is unable to be absorbed into the ground. Instead the water then travels down storm drains into the oceans where it brings no use to society.

Keeping water in damns does not help because the fresh water from rivers is constantly in motion so that all of the organisms are alive and well. When the water lays still and heats up, the helpful organisms then die off.

People everywhere are fighting for their basic rights, unless we choose to do something about it and hopefully bring an end to this needless crisis.

"Healthy Fast Food"
Is healthy fast food even possible?
Obviously this is not possible becasue since our need for food to be made fast and low cost, this causes a lot of health problems for people of all ages. This happenes because fast food is made fast, and in large quanites. People enjoy the taste that comes with all the grease and unhealthy chemicals in the food. Many people may not realize how unhealthy fast food is, they just eat the food because it tastes good. Time is not a luxuary for the average adult in the 21st centurty, they are either late for something or do not want to spend the time to make something. Thus comes the idea of fast food, its the easy way to get food that is made fast and tastes good.

The Cove

I don't feel that the film takes sides but that it merely just shows everything that is happening, without bias, not hiding anything in order for the audience to see everything that is happening and from that allows them to think for themselves on how they felt.

I think the movie does allow the audience to draw their own conclusion however i feel that they focus heavily on the dramatic scenes in order to move people to a more emotional state that would then help to persuade the audience more to the cause. For example during the scene when the dolphins were getting killed in the cove by the Japanese whalers they emphasized heavily on this part. The music also was made so that it was more moving to help people feel more emotional about the problem.

I feel that documentaries try to be as unbiased as possible, making sure that they just tell the news on an issue and what is being done about that issue. However this can be hard to do because it is often easy to pin the blame and show someone as the villain. For example when OPS had brought forward that Japan had been killing dolphins, they had made the video more about how the whalers are only interested in the money they profited.

I think the film helps to enlighten us on how parts of the world behave. It shows us many things that we may think to be insane to even do but to them it's considered an everyday thing. I think that the more we are enlightened, the more public awareness an issue may receive which in turn can start a global change for the better.
